was the light of men

CHRIST RADIATES                         

and the light shines in the darkness

CHRIST REFUSED                          

and the darkness comprehended it not

THE DECLARER OF JESUS V.6‑9

HE WAS SENT V.6

A MAN                                                    

There was a man

A MISSION                                           

sent from God,

HE WAS SPECIAL

HIS INDIVIDUALITY                       

whose name was John.

HIS INTENT V.7

TO PRESENT                                 

The same came for a witness,

TO PREACH                                    

to bear witness of the Light,

TO PERSUADE                              

that all men through him might believe

HIS IMPLICATIONS V.8                

He was not that Light,

HIS INFERENCE

A COMMISSION                           

but was sent

A CHARGE                                      

to bear witness of that Light.

DISPLAY CHRIST’S CHARACTER                          

That was the true Light,                    

DISPLAY CHRIST’S CALLING                                  

which lights every man

DISPLAY CHRIST’S COMING                                   

that cometh into the world.

INDEFENSIBLE

HIS PRESENCE IS APPARENT  

He was in the world,

HIS POWER IS APPEALING        

and the world was made by him,

HIS PERSON IS AVOIDED           

and the world

IGNORANT                                             

knew him not

INSULTING

THE PRIVILEGES                           

He came unto his own,

THE PROBLEMS                             

and his own received him not.

A POSSIBILITY                                   

But as many as received him,

to them gave he power

and truth.

EYEWITNESS EVIDENCE

HIS IDENTITY V.15

HE IS AUTHENTICATED        

John bare witness of him,

HE IS ACCLAIMED                   

and cried, saying,

HE IS ADMITTED                     

This was he of whom I spoke,

HE IS ADMIRED      

He that cometh after me is preferred before me

HE IS ADORED          

for he was before me.

HIS INDWELLING V.16                 

A FILLING                 

And of his fullness                   

A FULFILLING         

have all we received,                 

A FOUNTAIN             

and grace for grace.           

HIS IMPROVING V.17                 

PERFORMANCE BASED                     

DEMANDING         

For the law                     

DISTANT                  

was given by Moses,               

PROPORTIONALLY BALANCED                   

REFRESHING        

but grace                   

REALISTIC              

and truth                     

RELATIONAL         

came by Jesus Christ.             

HIS IMPRESSION V.18                   

INVISIBILITY          

No man hath seen God at any time;                   

INIMITABILITY     

the only begotten Son,                 

INTIMACY                

which is in the bosom of the Father,                   

ILLUMINATION     

he hath declared him.
