PSALMS 4 FROM WEAKNESS TO WORSHIP

OUR WEAKNESS v.1 

   OUR BEGGING        Hear me when I call, 

Cause us to feel You on our side in every circumstance & condition

   OUR BOAST             O God of my righteousness:

Influence every thought that we might live in the reality of our perfect position in You

    OUR BLESSING     You have enlarged me when I was in distress

Reveal Your purpose in each tight spot & stressful situation & setting

    OUR BURDEN       have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.

Allow an experience of mercy upon mercy, pour Your infinite compassion all around our life & give us the constant sensation of Your listening ear & caring heart.

OUR WARNING v.2

   THEY DISHONOR  O you sons of men, how long will 

                                  you turn my glory into shame? 

Train us to honor others, give kind recognition & contribute value & respect to each other

Deliver us from dishonoring shame & dragging down others with indignity

Release us from discrediting others with foolish insults & scorning  disrespect

   THEY DEVALUE    how long will ye love vanity, 

Deliver from futility, pointlessness, unprofitable behavior & words

   THEY’RE DISHONEST    and seek after deception? Selah.

Rescue us from every form of duplicity & fraud.

OUR WONDER v.3

   GOD IS SELECTIVE   But know that the LORD hath set apart 

                                                him that is godly for Himself:        

Illuminate our hearts & feelings in how special we are to You

   GOD IS SENSITIVE  the LORD will hear when I call unto Him

Enlighten us in how attentive You are to our every need & desire

OUR WORSHIP v. 4-5

   WE MUST CONSIDER  Stand in awe, and sin not:  

Inspire our contemplation of inspective scrutiny into Your wonder & astonishing beauty

   WE MUST COMMUNE  commune with your own heart upon your bed, 

Energize to share our intimate thoughts & feelings with You Lord

   WE MUST BE CALM     and be still. Selah.

Sooth us to live in the unruffled tranquility of Your presence

   WE MUST COOPERATE  Offer the sacrifices of righteousness  

Direct a continual endorsing of Your satisfactory perfection & a pleasure in Your flawless, faultless life & sacrifice on the cross for us

   WE MUST CONFIDE        and put your trust in the LORD

Conduct us to repeatedly & persistently rely on You Lord for everything & in everything

OUR WAIL v.6

    CONSTANT COMPLAINING   There be many that say, Who will show us any good?

Clarify how there’s nothing we can place our confidence in but You

    CREATIVE CONDOLENCE   LORD, lift You up the light of 

                                                                Your countenance upon us.

Define explicitly the radiance & beauty of Your features

OUR WELLSPRING v.7-8

    FOUNTAIN OF REFRESHMENT  

      OUR CONTENTMENT         You have put gladness in my heart, 

Gratify us with the reality of contentment by discovering our true joy & delight in You

       OUR CONTRAST         more  than in the time that their  

                                                   corn and their wine increased.

Isolate the contradictory incongruity of squeezing satisfaction from anything apart from You

         FIDELITY OF REST     I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep

Lead to a reliability of comfort from Your intimate companionship

         FENCE OF RETREAT   for You, LORD, only make me dwell in safety
