PSALMS 4

THE WEAKNESS V.1

    HIS BEGGING     Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness

    HIS BLESSING   You have enlarged me when I was in distress

    HIS BURDEN     have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.

THE WARNING V.2               

    DISHONOR       O you sons of men, how long will

                                   you turn my glory into shame?                                     

    DEVALUE          how long will ye love vanity,

    DISHONEST     and seek after leasing? Selah.

THE WONDER V.3

     GOD IS SELECTIVE   But know that the LORD hath set

                                                 apart him that is godly for himself                             

     GOD IS SENSITIVE    the LORD will hear when I call unto Him

THE WORSHIP V.4-5

     WE MUST CONSIDER Stand in awe, and sin not:

     WE MUST CONNECT  commune with your own

                                                  heart upon your bed,

     WE MUST BE CALM   and be still. Selah.

     WE MUST COOPERATE Offer the sacrifices of righteousness,

     WE MUST CONFIDE        and put your trust in the LORD.  

THE WAIL V.6

      CONSTANT COMPLAINING   There be many that say,

                                                               Who will show us any good?

      CREATIVE CONDOLENCE     LORD, lift You up the light of

                                                               Your countenance upon us.

THE WELLSPRING V.7-8

       OUR CONTENTMENT   You have put gladness in my heart

       OUR CONTRAST             more than in the time that their corn

                                                      and their wine increased.

        FIDELITY OF REST     I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep

        FENCE OF RETREAT   for You, LORD, only make me dwell in

                                                      safety
