PSALMS 119:81-88 THE DEJECTION OF DESPAIR
IT’S A DRAIN ON EMOTIONAL ENERGY
LOOK FOR GOD’S RESCUE
My soul faints for Your salvation:
LOOK FOR GOD’S RESPONSE
but I hope in Your word.
IT’S A DRAIN ON OUR EVALUATION
LOOK FOR GOD’S PERSPECTIVE
Mine eyes fail for Your word, saying,
LOOK FOR GOD’S PROMISE
When will You comfort me?
IT’S A DRAIN ON PHYSICAL ENERGY
For I am become like a bottle in the smoke
(a wineskin in the smoke pictures getting dried out, stiff, & cracked; It’s a way of saying I’m impotent and essentially leaking & useless.)
LOOK FOR GOD’S REJUVENATION
Yet do I not forget your statutes.
LOOK FOR GOD’S RENEWAL
How many are the days of your servant?
LOOK FOR GOD’S RESULTS
When will you execute judgment on them that persecute me
IT’S A DRAIN ON SPIRITUAL ENERGY
The proud have digged pits for me, which are not after your law.
Facing spiritual pitfalls that drain us emotionally, mentally and even spiritually – can discouraged us beyond an ability to cope
LOOK TO GOD’S WORD FOR RELIABILITY
All your commandments are faithful:
LOOK TO GOD’S WORD FOR REALITY
they persecute me wrongfully help me.
LOOK TO GOD’S WORD FOR REDIRECTION
They had almost consumed me on earth
DON’T FORSAKE HIS WORD
but I forsook not thy precepts.
LOOK TO GOD’S WORD FOR RECOVERY
Quicken me after your lovingkindness;
DON’T FORGET HIS WORD
so will I keep the testimony of your mouth
Each of these eight verses begin with the Hebrew term Caph. CAPH is the eleventh letter of the Hebrew alphabet and is suggestive of the term palm which is the inside cupped area of the hand.
God’s Palm Demonstrates His infinite sovereignty
Isa 40:12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand. Now that’s impressive holding the seven seas in your palm.
God’s Palm Demonstrates His intimate sensitivity
Isa. 49:16 Behold, I have graven you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me.
God’s Palm Demonstrates His individual security
Jn. 10:28 neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. No man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
Nothing is too big for him, nothing, no matter how small and insignificant is missed by his gaze and no power can defy his protective grip. We can trust on his tender care and gentle hold on us.
My name from the palms of His hands
Eternity will not erase;
Impressed on His heart it remains
In marks of indelible grace.
Thank you Steve for the blessing of Scripture. It’s rare these days.
