PSALMS 16

A CRY FOR PROTECTION V.1-2

Preserve me,

TO THE ONLY ALMIGHTY        

O God:

TO THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE  

for in you do I put my trust.

WHO KEEPS ALL HIS PROMISES

O my soul, you have said unto the LORD,

WHO CONTROLS ALL THE POSSIBILITIES

You are my Lord:

WHO ALONE IS MY PROFICIENCY

my goodness extends not to you;
(without you nothing makes sense)

A CONTENTMENT FOR THE PRIVILEGED V.3

THEY ARE SEPARATE

But to the saints that are in the earth,

THEY ARE SPECIAL    

and to the excellent,

THEY ARE SATISFYING

in whom is all my delight.

A COLLAPSE FOR PRETENSE V.4-5

THEY ARE TRAUMATIZED

Their sorrows shall be multiplied

THEY ARE TREACHEROUS

that hasten after another god:

THEY ARE DESERTED

their drink offerings of blood will I not offer

THEY ARE DISCARDED

nor take up their names into my lips.

THE LORD IS MY REWARD

The LORD is the portion of my inheritance

THE LORD IS MY REFRESHMENT

and of my cup

THE LORD IS MY RELIEF

You maintain my lot.

THE LORD IS MY REAL ESTATE

The lines are fallen to me in pleasant places

THE LORD IS MY RICHES

I have a goodly heritage.

THE LORD IS MY RESOLUTION

I will bless the LORD,

THE LORD IS MY RESOURCE

who has given me counsel:

THE LORD IS MY REFLECTION

my reins also instruct me in the night season

THE LORD IS MY REMEMBRANCE

I have set the LORD always before me:

THE LORD KEEPS ME FROM BEING RATTLED

because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved

A CALCULATION OF MY POSSESSIONS V.9-11

I HAVE PLEASURE IN MY INNER FEELINGS

Therefore my heart is glad,

I PROJECT PLEASURE IN MY EXPRESSIONS

and my glory rejoices

MY ENTIRE BEING IS AT PEACE

my flesh also shall rest in hope

BECAUSE I WILL BE RESURRECTED

For you will not leave my soul in hell

BECAUSE I WILL BE RESTORED

neither will you suffer your Holy One to see corruption

BECAUSE I WILL BE REVIVED

You will show me the path of life:

BECAUSE I WILL BE REJUVENATED

in your presence is fulness of joy;

BECAUSE I WILL BE RELAXED

at you right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
