Become a marble cutter

God never takes his arms out from underneath us,
but there are times in which he doesn’t let us feel his arms underneath us.

Our prayers are never answered because of what we are
when we’re not praying

Our prayers are never answered because of what we are
when we’re praying

But our prayer are answered by God because of who He is

But our prayer are answered by God because of what He’s promised

God train us! Lord give us the disciplined skill

to be like a marble cutter,
who with chisel & hammer changes
a stone into a beautiful statue.

Let us in the pleadings & beggings of Prayer
To by the chisel & hammer of petitions
deal heavy changing blows

To our stony hearts & to the rock hard hearts around us

Is not my Word like fire,” declares the LORD, “and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?

Jer. 23:28

Discipline us to spend every single moment of Our life
in Your light,
in Your love
in Your joy Lord Jesus
in Your presence

Show us how prayerlessness is like having our room
wallpapered with Saks Fifth Avenue gift certificates

but always shopping at Goodwill because you can’t read
what you’ve attached in every wall of our life

Reveal how prayerlessness is like a bus driver
trying alone to push his bus out of a rut

because he doesn’t know Clark Kent is on board.

If we knew, we’d would ask

For You do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think
