So we yield to Him

Prayer is a paradox.

No spiritual exercise is such

a blending

of complexity and simplicity.

It is the simplest form of speech

that infant lips can try,

yet the sublimest strains

that reach the Majesty on high.

It is as appropriate

to the aged philosopher

as to the little child.

It is the pinnacle release

of a moment

and the attitude of a lifetime.

It is the expression

of the rest of faith

and of the fight of faith.

It is an agony and an ecstasy.

It is submissive

and yet importunate.

It, in one moment lays hold of God

and binds the devil.

It can be focused

on a single objective

and it can roam the world.

It can be abject confession

and rapt adoration.

It invests puny man

with a sort of omnipotence

Small wonder then

that even it’s greatest exponent

and example was forced to admit

We do not even know

how we ought to pray

But, the Spirit comes

to the aide of our weakness

Through our inarticulate groans

the Spirit is pleading for us

And God searches our inner being

hears the Spirits voice

As He speaks for us

in God’s special way

Is it not strange

that in spite of our conviction

of its privilege and necessity?

We are all plagued

with a subtle aversion

to praying

How can we find our heart

so loathe go to God

and when before Him

so loathe to stay?

We must strive to pray

defying our feelings

Endeavor even when we think

we can’t

Our Lord Jesus comes to us.

He gently chides us:

couldn’t you watch with me

one hour?

The Spirit is willing

the flesh is weak.

So we yield

to the Spirits assistance

in our weakness

God protects and provides

Does God ever get tired of

helping us?

Does God ever get tired of

delivering us?

Does God ever get tired of

meeting our incessant needs

Does God ever get tired of devising

solutions for our endless problems?

We attract trouble like a powerful magnet

We multiply problems like an incurable epidemic.

Are we on a perpetual path of

self detonation

Every day we’re victims of an

identity implosion

Our external pressure badger us

Our internal pressure boggles us

Job felt unutterably wretched

as he sweltered in an ocean of

misery and drifted in a sea of

sorrow.

He cursed his very existence

and accepted that the only

reprieve was to be washed up

and rot on a forgotten shore.

Where is God?

Is He impersonal and aloof,

Is He an uncaring force,

Does He reject and tortured

all imperfections.

Or Is He personal and intrinsically

involved in each minute detail

of our daily existence.

Paul wrote:

“We are troubled on every side,

but not distressed.”

It’s not the water outside a vessel,

that sinks it; but the water that

gets in.

Greater is He that is in you

than he that is in the world.

God is our father and is place

as our father He is our originator.

Of his many originations he is

the father of mercy.

Mercy is describe as the action

of not giving us what we deserve.

“It is of the Lord’s mercies

that we are not consumed”

God’s mercy is unfailing Lam 3:22

God’s mercy is manifold Neh 9:19

God’s mercy is tender Ps 25:6

God’s mercy is great Num 14:19

The Bible frequently speaks of

the “multitude of God’s mercies”

the supply is inexhaustible.

God’s mercy is inviting

Ps 5:7

God’s mercy is according to

His kind love Ps 51:1

God’s mercy is sensitive

Ps 69:13,16

God’s mercy is exhaust-less

Ps 106:7,45

God’s mercy is unfailing

Lam 3:32

Is this a rational question

“does God care”

He is the originator of all care,

He is the source of all comfort,

He is the ocean of all love,

He is in fact the creator of

everything.

As James 1:17 tells us:

Every good gift and every perfect

gift is from above, and comes down

from the Father of lights,

with whom is no variableness,

neither shadow of turning.

No shadow of turning means

He’s always at high noon

He never casts a shadow

As one has said

“We are not alone in this great

universe, whose awful order,

indifferent to our needs,

strikes a shivering dread into

our hearts.

Behind the veil a Father is

watching and caring,

and by His vigilant providence

is adding, in the measure in

which He sees we need them,

all these things unto us.

Be careful for nothing;

rest calmly in the care of God.”

Since we’re valuable to God,

He made us,

He redeemed us,

He lives in us,

He guards and protects us.

If He shields us and everything

that comes our way must pass

through his watchful care,

than we have to accept it as

His will.

In John 3:27 John answered

and said, A man can receive

nothing, except it be given him

from heaven.

As Peter who was sifted by

Satan as wheat tells us:

1 Peter 4:19

Wherefore let them that suffer

according to the will of God

commit the keeping of their

souls to him in well doing,

as unto a faithful Creator.

Commit means to deposit in a

secure bank our valuable

possessions.

In 2 Tim 1:12 Paul states:

For the which cause I also suffer

these things: nevertheless I am

not ashamed: for I know whom

I have believed, and am persuaded

that he is able to keep that which

I have committed unto him against

that day

“We make our decisions,”

wrote Frank Boreham

“and then our decisions turn

around and make us.”

2 Cor. 3:5 says

Not that we are sufficient of

ourselves to think anything

as of ourselves;

but our sufficiency is of God;

2Chron. 14:11 tells us

And Asa cried unto the LORD

his God, and said, LORD,

it is nothing with You to help,

whether with many, or with them

that have no power:

help us, O LORD our God;

for we rest on You,

and in Your name we go against

this multitude.

O LORD, You are our God;

let not man prevail against

You.

PSALMS 3

PROBLEMS AND POSSIBILITIES

LORD, how are they increased

that trouble us!

many are they that rise up

There is no help for him in God.

OUR TRUST

OUR PROTECTION

But You, O LORD, are a shield

A little rose

I am only a little rose or autumn crocus of the plain of Sharon,

I am a humble lily of the valleys that grows in deep and difficult places

Song of Solomon 2:1 | AMP

Flower blooms in all their diversification are pictures of beauty, honor

and delicious fragrances.

The “Rose of Sharon,” was proverbial for it’s proverbial excellence.

While “the Lily of the valleys,” bloomed in the desert valleys of hardship

into glorious perfections.

Jesus reached down and picked a desert lily and taught from it:

“Consider the lilies how they grow:

they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you,

that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.”

Luke 12:27

Jesus reached down and picked the rose of Sharon and lily of the valley

for me in Jill. She is arrayed perfectly as an ideal help meet in my life.

Happy birthday Jill

Guide us in wisdom

Great study in 1 Samuel 16-18 this morning with the guys

We always have predators in our life.

They pop up like tireless weeds on the ground around our feet

David said he was equipped to deal with this 10 foot giant Goliath

because he’s handled a bear and a lion in God’s strength

One of the guys recalled chasing a bear out of his yard with no clothes on

We need to deal with our predators stripped of ourselves and

clothed in God’s wisdom

clothed in Christ’s righteousness

clothes in The Spirit of power

David in 1 Sam. 18

Behaved himself wisely

Behaved himself wisely in all his ways

Behaved himself very wisely

Lord help us to be wise, to be wise in all our ways and to be very very wise

in these weird times of an avalanche of predators and giants stalking our

every move.

We walk by faith

We walk by faith,

not by appearance

2 Cor. 5:7

Dont look at our feelings.

Self wants us to;

Satan wants us to.

God wants us to face facts,

not feelings;

The facts of Christ

The facts of His finished

accomplishments

The facts of His perfect work for us,

The facts of Him in us

The facts of Him all around us.

When we face these precious facts,

When we believe them

because God says they are facts,

God will take care of our feelings.

God never gives feeling

to enable us to trust Him;

God never gives feeling to

encourage us to trust Him;

God never gives feeling

to show that we have already

and utterly trusted Him.

We trust Him apart from all feeling,

We rest on His amazing Word,

We lean on His faithfulness

to His promises.

Then His feelings

(which are from Him)

come through His faithfulness;

God will give us the feeling

of His incredible presence,

according to the measure

of our faith in His love

And He gives

He said He’s a giver

How are we existing right now

How are we breathing right now.

Because He’s giving us breath

Because He’s giving us life

These are God’s facts.

Our feelings are as uncertain

as shifting sands.

God’s facts are as certain

as the Rock of Ages,

Christ is the same yesterday,

today and forever.

When darkness veils His lovely face

We rest on His unchanging grace;

In every high and stormy gale,

Our anchor holds within the veil.

I sought the Lord

And He heard me

And delivered me from all my fears

We cry!

How are they increased

that trouble us

Many there be

that rise up against us

Many there be that say:

Gods not going to help us

But You God

are our protective powerful Shield

But You God are our glory

You are our praise

But You God are the lifter

of our head

We seek You

We hunger and thirst for You

Fill us with Yourself!!!

JUST BELIEVE

Jesus assured us:

“You have nothing to fear

as long as you put

your trust in Me.”

Mark 5:36

Faith and fear are polar opposites

Fear pulls in one direction

Faith pulls in a different direction.

Fear hits us and “shiver me timbers”

utter desolation and despair

sweeps over our face

We emote:

Our little girl is dead!

It’s a haunting aching desperation

it’s totally all over!

Death, desolation, dejection.

Our daughter is no more.

All what was left was the funeral

and an empty chair at the table,

an empty bed in the corner,

an empty house,

and an empty heart.

Nobody can raise the dead.

When you’ve been to

too many funerals.

You know the hollow haunt.

When there is life, there is hope.

Now there was nothing.

Who can change what death does?

There’s miracles in the Bible?

There’s great stories about

raising the dead,

restoring new life,

turning things around.

Daniel in the lions’ den.

The 3 overcoming the intense

holocausts of intense flames.

But that’s the Bible times.

That was a long long time ago.

Can miracles happen now?

But why not? What are the odds?

Does Jesus heal?

Does Jesus recreate?

Does Jesus change the afflicted

Does Jesus irradiate an incurable

disease that’s distorted for years?

Does Jesus remove horror?

Does Jesus heal bitter loses?

Does Jesus pour in love

Where there’s devastating hatred?

Fear deafens us to faith!

We can’t hear the Spirit’s

whispering life giving enabling,

We can’t see God’s power,

We miss Jesus renewing

energetic healing!

But no!

Fear has gouged away faith

in even Jesus!

Desperation deafens us to His

living touch.

Our daughters, our sons, all that

we live for and love have been

taken.

Jesus, what! O come on,

could Jesus do anything now.

Dead. It’s all dead.

Jesus see’s our struggle

He reads it in our face.

He feels our despairing sorrow.

What’s He whisper

“Be not afraid,”

is He really saying that?

Don’t let fear petrify us!

“only believe.”

“Our faith makes us whole,”

Get a fresh grip on it,

Believe!

Look at Jesus and believe Him.

He’s greater than Moses,

He’s greater than Elijah,

He’s greater than Elisha,

He’s greater than Daniel

He is here

He is able

He controls everything

Our Lord Jesus performs wonders

Our Lord Jesus performs miracles

Our Lord Jesus transforms our

losses

Our Lord Jesus changes our

casualties

Jesus eradicates

our fatalities
our damages
our deficits

Things are falling apart in our life

Years of aches, pains, devastating

losses, rejections have robbed us

Jesus will perform His mightiest

miracles,

He’s embracing us even now

He takes our corpse and breaths

in His faith.

Like the 3 faithful men in the

Fires of holocaust in

Nebacanezzars furnace

Jesus

His greatness and power,

removes our personal grief

Everything that destroys us

Everything that distorts our freedom

Everything that challenges us.

Jesus comes in

He speaks the word

He renews, restores, reinvigorates,

recovers, repairs, reconstructs

and revives!!!

Just Believe

Just Believe

He’s here. He’s walking with us.

He’s living in us!!!

Just believe💜💜💜

Only Wait

When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter

Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them

Acts 16:7

What a strange thing for the Lord to prohibit them,

they were going to do good things!

And the door was shut by Christ’s Spirit.

There are times we experience a shut door.

We’re flat interrupted in what we think is the right direction.

Opposition blocks us, or sickness lands in our lap and we’re

isolated by a need to recuperate. It’s difficult to wait.

At times we have to stop, sit and reconsider and give ourselves

to praying recluse. Isolation frustrates but it must be used to

advantage as ineffective and diverse as it feels.

Father, we crave Your direction so please lead us.

Our opportunities we thought were developing have at times

fizzled into disappointment. Death of a vision wraps it’s morbid

tentacles pulling us down.

We thought the door was open but it slammed in our face.

Teach us to see Your open doors

Help us hear. We’re so deaf.

Inspire us with Your creative options,

Help us stay still, and wait patiently at Your throne.

As George Matheson wrote:

Teach us the power of Your “gentle whisper”

1 Kings 19:12

I will not complain that sometimes the Spirit allows us to delay

and linger. We can’t understand.

Father’s lead,

At times it seems to be a hard and cruel fate,

Let us hear Your “gentle whisper” ever pleading,

God is working,

God is faithful,

ONLY WAIT

Seek God

This is the generation of them that seek HIM

Psalms 24:6

Does generation describe a race of individuals who seek Him;

or, is this a painted portrait of an individuals personal character?

Is everyone seeking God?

Romans 3:10 says

There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one

who understands, there is no one who seeks God.

The phrase “to seek God” is often used as descriptive of true integrity:

Psalm 9:10

they that know Your name (Your peerless character)

will put their trust in You: for You, LORD, have not forsaken them that

seek You.

Psalm 14:2

The LORD looked down from heaven on the children of men, to see if there

were any that did understand, and seek God.

Psalm 63:1 is our cry:

O God, You are our God; early will we seek You: our soul thirsts for God,

our flesh longs for God in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

In Proverbs 8:17 God assures us that

He loves them that love Him; and those that seek Him will find Him.

Matthew 6:33 Jesus says:

to seek first the kingdom (control) of God ( in our life),

and his righteousness (the activity of doing what’s right);

and all these things will be added to us.

Matthew 7:7. Jesus again says:

Ask, and it will be given us; seek, and we will find; knock, and it will

be opened to us:

This indicates an earnest desire to know Him and to have His favor.

It denotes also the humility of mind of needing God, and a sense of our

need of trusting dependence on God.

Isaiah 55:6

so we Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near.

Job 8:5 says:

there is rich value in seeking God and pleading with the Almighty

for mercy

Search for Him as for Gold and hidden treasure

THE VALUE OF ANOTHER

It’s very difficult

trying to make it on our own;

when we fall,

if there’s no one there

to pick us up.

But what a blessing it is

to have a friend there

to lift our spirits

when we’re down.

Ecclesiastes 4:10 Paraphrased

Comparisons are a vital tool

used in scripture to teach wisdom

For example, when Samuel

said loving God is more important

than simply going through the

religious performance, he said,

“To obey is better than sacrifice”

1 Samuel 15:22

Or when Solomon praised the

importance of harmony by

avoiding unloving people,

he said,

“Better is a dinner of herbs

where love is

than a fattened ox

and hatred with it”

Proverbs 15:17

Another comparison through

It’s better to be satisfied in the

goodness of God, then the raw

and harsh aspects of others

I read about a little girl who

misquoted Psalm 23

but spoke better than she knew.

Rather than saying,

“The Lord is my shepherd;

I shall not want,” she said,

“The Lord is my shepherd;

that’s all I want.”

Most of us want so many other

things in life that it is hard for

us to say that,

Is Jesus all we want or not,

the truth is that He is all we need.

Most of us want so many other

things in life that it is hard for us to

say that, Jesus is all we want

the truth is that He is all we need.

Aristotle dedicates two whole

books of his Ethics to the subject

of Friendship,

Cicero made it the theme of

one of his most finished essays.

“The wise man,” says Seneca

“needs a friend,

One who helps when we’re poor

One who releases us when we’re

in bondage,

one who sits with us

when we’re sick

one who rescues us when we’re

attacked by foes.”

Prov. 17:17, 27:17,

A Jewish proverb makes a

Comparison

“a man without friends is like

a left hand without the right”

the preciousness of friendship

is one of the joys of life

having good friends is one of the

highest of human goods, and

wisdom instructs us to value it

as the chief element of security

Jesus sent out His disciples

“two and two together”

Luke 10:1

And Jesus is a friend that sticks

closer then any friend, closer then

a brother and closer then our

marriage partner and lover.

As the poet wrote:

What wondrous love is this,

O my soul, O my soul!

What wondrous love is this,

O my soul!

What wondrous love is this

that caused the Lord of bliss

To bear the dreadful curse

for my soul, for my soul,

To bear the dreadful curse

for my soul.

When I was sinking down,

sinking down, sinking down,

When I was sinking down,

sinking down,

When I was sinking down

beneath God’s righteous frown,

Christ laid aside His crown

for my soul, for my soul,

Christ laid aside His crown

for my soul.

Or as another poet wrote:

O love that will not let me go

I rest my weary soul in thee

I give thee back the life I owe

That in thine ocean depths its flow

My richer, fuller be

O light that followest all my way

I yield my flickering torch to thee

My heart restores its borrowed ray

That in thy sunshines glow its day

May brighter, fairer be

O joy you seek me through the pain

I cannot close my heart to thee

I trace the rainbow through the rain

And feel the promise is not vain

Then morn shall tearless be

Do we know Jesus in that way?

Have we let Him surround us

with loving, uplifting friends?

Catch some wind

We sold our R. V. to a wind sailor

In the summer he catches wind

On the water

In the winter he catches wind

On the snow

Jonah prayed,

Stewing in the stomach acid

Of a great fishes belly

“Every time we’re in trouble,

Lord, we call out to You,

and You answer our prayer.

From the depths of my

watery grave

We cried, ‘Help me, Lord!’

and You were there.”

Jonah 2:2 Paraphrased

Sometimes when we turn

our back on God

we need a fishy encounter

to call out to God.

If we keep rejecting His solutions

If we refuse His ways

we may have to experience

many fishy encounters!!!
